銀魂
In an Edo period occupied by aliens, a lazy ex-samurai runs an odd-jobs business, in a comedy that turns serious whenever it chooses. Read from the signal, as an 11.

11Filed under 11. The Signal takes a signal received early, and this entry is intuits one.
Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2003 to 2018, then concluded in Jump GIGA and the Gintama app in 2019, for a total of 77 volumes. In an alternate Edo, aliens have arrived and banned swords. Gintoki Sakata, a veteran of the lost war against them, now runs an odd-jobs business with two young assistants and lives mostly on sweets and borrowed money.
Most chapters are comedy: absurd jobs, extended parodies of other Jump series, jokes at the expense of the magazine, the editor and the author himself. Then, without warning, a long arc turns into serious samurai drama about loyalty, grief and the war Gintoki fought, before the comedy returns.
Few manga have mocked their own medium so openly. Characters complain about pacing, popularity polls and their own designs, and the series treats its status as a weekly Jump manga as material.
It is the model of the gag-and-drama hybrid, and proof that a series can keep both registers alive for fifteen years. Its anime adaptation became famous in its own right for the same mixture.
Every letter here carries a digit; together they make 29, which folds down to 11.
What the 11 brings is vision. The reference files it as a signal received early. Whatever else this entry is doing, it is doing it with the 11's heightened, high-voltage intuition about what comes next.
The vowels alone reduce to 11, the consonants to 9. Vision underneath, reckoning on the surface. The gap between them is where the subject is most interesting.
Counted another way the answer changes. 総画 strokes is 28, a 1, volumes is 77, a 5, years serialised is 17, an 8 and debut year is 2003, a 5. The title says 11; the subject says otherwise, and the subject is the harder evidence.
The 11 asks you to remember that nobody noticed this at the time. The 11 is unstable and knows it. Being early and being wrong are indistinguishable until later. The other entries that reduce to 11 are collected on The Signal.
