Twenty-two is the Master Builder — the 11’s vision with the 4’s discipline underneath it. Its shelf is the shortest in the reference and the most demanding: the multi-decade serialisations, the studios built to outlast a founder, the single works that reorganised a medium around themselves. A title only lands here by arithmetic accident, which is the honest reason the shelf is short.
How to read this shelf. Every entry here describes something enormous that also finished. That combination is rarer than either half.
