Severance Team Adapts Japanese-Inspired 'Shifter' Graphic Novel for Hulu

Get ready for another dose of unsettling sci-fi from the minds behind Apple TV's hit series, Severance. Adam Scott, Ezra Claytan Daniels, and Eli Jorné are teaming up to adapt Koren Shadmi's graphic novel, Shifter, for Hulu. This project immediately grabs our attention.

What makes this adaptation particularly compelling for us at Catzye? Shifter's premise is explicitly inspired by Japan's real-world "family rental" agencies. The story centers on Rose, an aspiring actress in the near future who uses a facial implant to impersonate anyone. She takes app-based jobs, becoming stand-in family members or acquaintances for clients grappling with loneliness.
