Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes Anime: Set for an Unprecedented Winter 2027 Premiere

Hold onto your fangs, anime fans! We just got major news for Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes, but there's a catch: the TV anime adaptation won't drop until Winter 2027. Yes, you read that right — a full three-year wait for this vampire-dungeon fantasy to hit screens.

Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures kicked off the official site this week, treating us to the first promo video, key staff, and lead cast for the series, officially titled Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat. It's a mouthful, but the premise is intriguing.

Studio DEEN takes the reins on this one. Kenichi Imaizumi, known for his directorial work on Myriad Colors Phantom World, is at the helm. Michiko Yokote, a veteran talent behind series composition for hits like Shirobako, handles the script — a promising sign for the narrative quality. Mariko Komatsu designs the characters, while Tsubasa Ito composes the score.

For voice talent, we're getting Yui Ogura as the titular Mercedes and Reina Ueda as Stella. Both are fantastic picks, bringing a wealth of experience and range to their roles.

The story itself is another reincarnation fantasy, but with a unique bite: Mercedes, a former human, is reborn as a vampire noble. Deemed incompetent, she's unceremoniously dumped in a dungeon. Her only path to survival and proving her worth? Conquer the dungeon. It's a fresh take on the crowded isekai genre, and could stand out if handled with care.

Firehead's original light novel series, illustrated by Oumi, is published by Kodansha K Lanove Books. Three volumes are currently available, giving fans plenty of material to dive into during the lengthy wait.
