Crunchyroll just dropped a bombshell on its subscriber base: starting this August, the Crunchyroll Store will become exclusive to Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan tier members. This means standard Fan tier subscribers, and non-subscribers, will lose direct access to the official anime merchandise shop. It is a clear push to encourage upgrades for dedicated collectors eager to snag figures, apparel, and home video releases. This move significantly changes how many fans interact with their favorite anime platform and its extensive merchandise offerings.

For current buyers, there is a small silver lining. All open orders, including those for items releasing after August, will still be processed. However, future purchases will require that higher-tier subscription.
