The Simpsons Goes 'Real' With New Couch Gag, Teases Darker Disney+ Specials

The Simpsons just dropped a mind-bending couch gag for its new Disney+ special, "Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition." This isn't your standard animated intro. Described as "really real," it’s a surprisingly unsettling take on Homer's extreme makeover, setting a unique tone for the iconic series.
This surreal opening kicks off three new Simpsons episodes hitting Disney+ this summer. First on June 17th is "Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition," where a fed-up Marge conjures fantasies of vastly different Homers. Betty Gilpin, Laufey, and Tegan and Sara lend their guest voices.
"Simpsley" arrives July 3rd, transplanting a con-artist Marge to Italy, tangled with Seymour Skinner and Homer. Expect a caper of "lies, lust, and Italian lira." Rounding out the summer on August 26th is "Yellow Mirror." This episode dives into darker territory, questioning Homer's reality and featuring an AI-controlled Maggie. It promises bizarre tales reminiscent of Black Mirror.
