Prime Video's Sex Criminals Adaptation Nabs Pamela Adlon, BD Wong; Confirms Kumail Nanjiani

Prime Video’s long-gestating Sex Criminals adaptation just locked in major talent. Pamela Adlon and BD Wong officially join the cast, with Kumail Nanjiani confirming a recurring role in the highly anticipated series. After years in development, this beloved Image Comics series is finally taking shape, and the star power is undeniable.
Adlon, known for Better Things, steps into the role of Bev, protagonist Suze’s mother. BD Wong (Law & Order: SVU) will play Oliver, a bank manager with mysterious ties to Bev and Suze. Nanjiani, who is already an executive producer and co-writer with Emily V. Gordon, is now also confirmed to appear on screen as a character named Dane. This trio joins previously announced leads Imogen Poots as Suze and John Reynolds as Jon.
Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's Eisner-winning Sex Criminals comic captivated readers with its outlandish premise: Suze and Jon discover they can stop time when they have sex. Naturally, they decide to rob banks. Nia DaCosta (Candyman) directs the pilot and second episode, promising a distinct vision for this unique story.

Catzye Take
What's interesting here is Nanjiani expanding his role from behind-the-scenes to on-screen, a clear vote of confidence in the project. Fans will want to watch how director Nia DaCosta brings the comic's signature blend of humor and heart to life. This could be a breakthrough for comic adaptations outside the superhero genre.
