LEGO's New Umbreon vs. Garchomp Set: Catch it in 2026?

Hold onto your Poké Balls, trainers – LEGO just dropped news of a new Pokémon Smart Play set, but you’ll have to wait until August 1, 2026 to catch it. Yes, you read that right: 2026. The Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle kit, an 831-piece construction set, pits two fan-favorite Pokémon against each other, focusing heavily on interactive play.
This isn't your average display piece. LEGO's "Smart Play" line integrates exclusive Smart Tags within articulated figures like Umbreon and Garchomp. Pair them with optional Smart Bricks (sold separately), and these brick-built monsters react with sounds and lights. It’s a distinct shift from traditional static dioramas, aiming for active engagement.
Garchomp, standing 5.5 inches tall, is ready to challenge Umbreon. The set costs $79.99. Pre-orders are live now, but that two-year wait is certainly a curveball for impatient fans.

That August 2026 release date is a wild card. While LEGO's Smart Play concept for Pokémon offers a new dimension for younger fans, it'll be interesting to see if collectors warm up to the interactive focus over more detailed display pieces. Keep an eye on how this long lead time affects pre-order enthusiasm.
