Zendaya Joins Shrek 5 Cast as Felicia; Original Trio Returns

Zendaya is officially joining the Shrek universe! The Emmy-winning superstar will voice Felicia, Shrek and Fiona's daughter, in the highly anticipated Shrek 5. DreamWorks Animation just dropped the first teaser trailer and images, confirming the return of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz to their iconic roles.
This isn't just a nostalgic cash-in. The film, now set for Summer 2027, boasts a serious creative team. Franchise veterans Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2 director) and Walt Dohrn (Shrek writer, Trolls director) are at the helm. Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, known for Super Mario and Despicable Me, is producing. After the incredible animated triumph of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, DreamWorks has shown it can still deliver stunning, heartfelt animation. Shrek 5 looks poised to carry that torch. Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo join as Felicia's brothers, rounding out the new generation of ogre-royalty.

This news is huge for Shrek fans and animation enthusiasts alike. Zendaya's involvement signals a fresh direction, potentially targeting a new generation while still honoring the original cast. It will be interesting to see if the new talent can revitalize the franchise in the way Puss in Boots: The Last Wish did.
