"Sex Criminals" Adaptation is "Gorgeous," Praises Co-Creator Chip Zdarsky

It took over a decade, but the Prime Video adaptation of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's Eisner-winning comic, Sex Criminals, is finally in production. And co-creator Chip Zdarsky himself is already singing its praises. He’s particularly impressed with acclaimed director Nia DaCosta, calling her "so damned good and wonderful" and the show "absolutely gorgeous."
Zdarsky, who co-created the Image Comics series, shared his thoughts after a set visit with Fraction. In his Substack newsletter, he lauded the "unreal" level of "care and love" poured into the project, from the charming acting to hair and makeup. He even humorously questioned if they should have put more effort into the original comic.
The series, known for its unique premise, follows Suze (Imogen Poots) and Jon (John Reynolds), a couple who discover they can stop time during sex. They decide to use this unusual power to rob banks. This offbeat concept won "Best New Series" at the 2014 Eisner Awards.
