Robot Chicken Unleashes Adult Swim 25th Anniversary Chaos, Cartoon Network Docuseries Coming

Adult Swim's 25th anniversary celebration is about to get delightfully chaotic, courtesy of Robot Chicken. The long-running stop-motion series is dropping a new Adult Swim special on Sunday, August 30th, promising an epic roast of the network itself. Its premise? A celebratory cruise descends into a battle for survival, featuring characters from across Adult Swim's legendary vault—think everything from Aqua Teen Hunger Force to The Venture Bros. This sounds like pure, unadulterated Adult Swim chaos, and we're here for it.
But the Adult Swim party isn't the only anniversary in the spotlight. Cartoon Network is also getting some overdue recognition, though we'll have to wait a bit longer. A five-part docuseries, slated for 2027, will delve into the network's 35-year history. It promises to explore the artists, from the "Checkerboard" era to the "Dimensional," and Cartoon Network's transformation from a classic cartoon custodian to a groundbreaking force in animation. Expect archival footage and new interviews with the legends who shaped a generation.
And because you can never have enough stop-motion madness, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios will also produce a Robot Chicken Cartoon Network 35th Anniversary Special for 2027. This one will shine a spotlight on Cartoon Network's iconic characters.
“Most sane people don't write a memoir at 35 years old, but Cartoon Network has never been sane.”
Catzye Take
This August 30th Robot Chicken special for Adult Swim sounds like a fantastic, irreverent way to celebrate its quarter-century mark. Fans will definitely want to watch how they roast the network's legacy. What's interesting is how both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are leaning into their history, proving that their cultural impact is undeniable.
