Obsessive Office Romance Manga 'My Cold Co-worker' Gets Live-Action, Stars Takarazuka's Karen Yui & Kamen Rider's Yasunari Fujibayashi

Mofu's hit web manga, "My Cold Co-worker Obsessively Loves Me," is getting a live-action series, and the casting is undeniably sharp. Former Takarazuka Revue star Karen Yui steps into her first live-action lead role as Anzu Hinata, the calm and popular office worker at the heart of the story. Joining her is Yasunari Fujibayashi, known for his charismatic turn as Kurogane Spanner in "Kamen Rider Gotchard," playing the titular "cold co-worker" Kairi Asahina.
The series, set to premiere on July 8, dives into a deliciously twisted office romance. While Anzu maintains her composed exterior, the real intrigue lies in Kairi's secret inner world. Outwardly stoic, Kairi is actually an obsessively devoted admirer, meticulously observing Anzu's every move and collecting "Anzu goods." This manga, boasting over 7 million views on Kadokawa's Comic Bridge, perfectly nails "gap moe" — the charm derived from a character's unexpected contrast. It plays on the delightful tension between his icy façade and his fervent, almost stalker-like devotion.
With Yūta Sasaki directing and co-writing, this adaptation promises to bring Mofu's unique blend of rom-com and psychological intrigue to life. It's another clear win for web manga, showing how online hits continue to find new audiences in the live-action space.
“The series promises to explore the delicious gap between Kairi's outwardly frosty persona and his deeply obsessive affection for Anzu.”

This is a fantastic pick for a live-action! It perfectly highlights the growing trend of web manga adaptations, especially those with a unique romantic twist. Fans of "gap moe" and slightly darker, character-driven rom-coms will definitely want to check out this casting and intriguing premise.
