My Stepmother & Stepsisters Aren't Wicked Drops First PV, VAs Sing Themes, Soma Saito Boards Cast

The first full promotional video for "My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked" just landed, giving us a delightful taste of the wholesome romcom coming this summer. And here's a neat twist: two of the newly announced voice cast members are pulling double duty, also performing the anime's theme songs.
Miyari Nemoto, lending her voice to Yaeko Kouzou, will sing the ending theme "Omoihase." Yumi Uchiyama, joining as Nago, takes on the opening theme "Kawaribanka." That's a clever bit of synergy from the production committee. Adding more star power, fan-favorite Soma Saito, known for Loid Forger in Spy x Family, steps in as Shusuke Aoi.
The anime follows Haruki Kouzou, whose new stepfamily defies the wicked trope. Instead, his stepmother and stepsisters are pure-hearted and adorably clumsy, setting the stage for a unique slice-of-life romantic comedy. Studio Mausu (Hatena Illusion) is animating, with Tsuyoshi Nagasawa directing and Tatsuya Kato (Dr. Stone) handling the music. Catch the premiere on July 8.

Catzye Take
This VA-theme song synergy is always a fun touch and speaks to the production's focus on its talent. With Soma Saito on board and Tatsuya Kato composing, this 'not wicked' romcom could be a sleeper hit for the summer season. Fans looking for a warm, quirky family story should definitely keep an eye on this one.
