Mike Mignola's Hellboy In Hell Revival Set for Distant 2026 Release

Mike Mignola is bringing Hellboy back to the underworld, but fans will need significant patience. Dark Horse Comics announced a new two-issue series, Hellboy In Hell: Nothing But Blood, won't arrive until October 2026. That's a lengthy wait for any comic, especially for a series as beloved as Hellboy.

Mignola himself writes the new title, collaborating with artist Cyrille Pomès for his Hellboy Universe debut. Pomès will handle the art and lettering, with longtime Mignolaverse colorist Dave Stewart returning to bring the infernal hues to life. Main covers will be by Pomès, with Mignola providing a variant for the first issue.

The original Hellboy in Hell series (2012-2016) was a pivotal chapter, acclaimed for revealing Hellboy's origins and providing a breathtaking tour of the underworld. This new story picks up after Satan's death and the fall of Pandemonium. Hellboy finds himself intervening in a demonic uprising, saving a young woman from winged beasts. Expect classic Mignola intrigue; the announcement teases that "nothing – and no one – are what they seem to be."
