Masters of the Universe Reboot Taps Adult Animation Vet Mike Roberts for YouTube Series

A new Masters of the Universe 2D animated series has landed, and its executive producer might surprise you. Mike Roberts, known for his work on adult animation darlings like Final Space and BoJack Horseman, is showrunning Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia. This "re-boot" of the classic 80s show quietly debuted on the Mattel Adventures YouTube channel on June 10th.

Mattel Studios aims to introduce a new generation to Eternia's timeless conflict. They partnered with Snipple Animation for the fast-paced mini-adventures. Writer/director Matthew Brown revealed the 20-episode series on social media after six months in the trenches. The cast includes Aidan Reimer as He-Man, Jonah Hundert as Skeletor, Olivia Sgambelluri as Teela, and Tiffany Smith as Evil-Lyn. This YouTube-first strategy highlights Mattel’s commitment to a "multiyear MOTU roadmap," directly reaching young viewers where they already spend their time.
