Kanojo no Tomodachi Anime Debuts Fall 2026: A Long Wait for Deregula's New Series

Get ready for a long wait, anime fans! The TV anime adaptation of Jyura's Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend's Friend) just got an official announcement, but it won't hit screens until October 2026. That's a significant lead time, hinting at a potentially ambitious production for this new series.

WWWaveCorporation's Deregula animation label is producing the show. They've already pulled back the curtain on the main staff and cast, alongside revealing the first key visual. Takashi Andou, who previously served as an assistant director on Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou, steps up to direct. Kazuhiro Itou handles series composition, and Yuusuke Kawabata, an animation director for Tensei shitara Slime Ken, takes on character design.

The voice cast features Ryuuga Nagaike as Takeru Hidaka and Sayaka Hanemurasaki as Kaori Koga. Miki Hase, known to many for her role in Boku no Kanojo ga Majimesugiru Sho-bitch na Ken, joins the team as Tomoko Yoshioka. An announcement this early for a release so far off definitely puts Kanojo no Tomodachi on our radar.

Catzye Take

A Fall 2026 release is quite a ways off, which is unusual for an initial announcement of this type. This could signal a studio that's taking its time to ensure a polished production, or perhaps they have a very full schedule. Fans should keep an eye on Deregula to see how this long lead time translates into the final product.
