Jem and the Holograms Live-Action Series Gets 'Fallout' Treatment from Kilter Films

The team behind critically acclaimed hits like Fallout and Westworld is tackling a truly outrageous project: a live-action series based on the iconic 80s animated show, Jem and the Holograms. Amazon MGM Studios and Hasbro Entertainment are backing the development, with Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan's Kilter Films on board. Joy, Nolan, and Athena Wickham are set to executive produce, alongside Gabriel Marano for Hasbro.

Jem and the Holograms was a total cultural phenomenon. Debuting in 1985, Christy Marx's creation was far more than a cult classic; its music-video-themed episodes and dazzling premise — record company owner Jerrica Benton secretly fronts a glamorous rock band — captivated a generation. It even outperformed contemporary giants like Transformers.

Fans have waited years for a live-action adaptation worthy of the original's legacy. A 2015 film attempted to bring Jem to the big screen but largely missed the mark, leaving many disappointed. With Kilter Films' reputation for high-quality, ambitious storytelling, this new series signals a serious, high-budget approach that could finally do justice to Jerrica and The Holograms' truly outrageous world.

Catzye Take

This could be huge for nostalgic fans and new audiences alike. Kilter Films' involvement suggests a quality-driven adaptation, a stark contrast to the divisive 2015 film. We're eager to see how they handle the music and vibrant style that defined the original.
