Grant Morrison Proposes Radical Doctor Who Cliffhanger Fix

Hold onto your sonic screwdrivers, Whovians. Legendary comic writer Grant Morrison just dropped a bombshell proposal for Doctor Who's latest cliffhanger. Their solution for the Ncuti Gatwa and Billie Piper entanglement is as audacious as it is, well, controversial.
Morrison, known for their groundbreaking work across comics, took to their Substack to tackle the show's current state. They confessed a long-standing interest in writing for the BBC series, despite past rejections. Now, they've laid out exactly how they'd resolve the Gatwa/Piper bi-regeneration.
Their vision? Gatwa's Doctor, Morrison suggests, was an "unstable bi-regeneration." A fleeting, "mayfly existence" that "glitched out," reaching for a familiar face: Billie Piper's Rose. This Rose would then track down David Tennant's Doctor, living an "earthbound ordinary life." The two Doctors would then "fuse back together" in a scene that neatly wraps up the entire Russell T. Davies era. From there, "new-new-Who picks up with nary a backward glance." It's a clean slate, if a brutal one for Gatwa's tenure.
“Gatwa's Doctor was an unstable bi-regeneration who tried to make the most of his brief mayfly existence.”
Catzye Take
This is a wild, fascinating take from one of comics' most imaginative minds. While just a proposal, it highlights the intense fan speculation around Doctor Who's future and how even established creators are weighing in. Fans will want to see if this kind of bold, era-defining idea ever makes it to screen.
