DC Unearths Three New Gotham Titles, Ditching Capes for Grounded Chaos in Bad Seeds Event

DC Comics is gearing up for a Gotham apocalypse unlike any other this September and October. The massive "Bad Seeds" event is sprouting three brand-new titles, pushing familiar faces and new concepts into the toxic fray. What's most exciting? Two of these books, Gotham General and Gotham Central, ditch the capes for grounded, gritty perspectives on disaster.
At the heart of "Bad Seeds" is Poison Ivy, whose verdant villainy has reached an all-time high, terraforming Gotham City into a prehistoric plant nightmare. Vandal Savage also plays a crucial role, hunting Ivy with a chemical weapon and diverting GCPD resources. The entire Bat-Family, and the city itself, are caught in the crossfire.
Leading the charge for the new series is Greg Rucka, Rosa Ekedal, and Patricio Angel's Gotham General #1. This series throws readers into Gotham's tier-one trauma center during the catastrophe, focusing on the doctors and nurses who are heroes without costumes. Rucka, known for his masterful crime stories, promises a truly human-scale drama amidst the chaos.

Catzye Take
This feels like a deliberate effort by DC to expand the Batman universe beyond just the Bat-Family. The focus on everyday heroes during a city-wide catastrophe is a smart move, reminiscent of classic event storytelling. Fans should keep an eye on how these new perspectives deepen the core 'Bad Seeds' narrative.
