Cyclops Goes Full Vampire Hunter in Midnight: X-Men, Beard and All

Marvel Comics is shaking up the X-Men universe with a truly unexpected twist: Cyclops is now a vampire hunter. And he's sporting a beard and crew cut to boot. This massive reveal comes from the solicitation for Midnight: X-Men #2, dropping in November 2026.
Jonathan Hickman pens the series with art by Matteo Della Fonte, and it looks like a bold new direction for the iconic mutant. Issue #1, due October 7, already teased Storm and Nightcrawler as vampires — or "empyres" as they're called in this new world. So, Cyclops might be hunting his own.
Hickman himself is hyped, calling Midnight: X-Men an "ambitious story with intricate plots and long-form payoffs." This series sounds like a big swing for Marvel, taking beloved characters into dark, monster-hunting territory.
“Cyclops is now a vampire hunter. And he's sporting a beard and crew cut to boot.”
Catzye Take
This is a wild pivot for Cyclops, a character usually known for his laser focus and, well, lack of facial hair. It fits Marvel's current trend of reinventing iconic heroes in surprising ways. Fans will want to see if this reinvention sticks or if it's just a temporary transformation.
