Catzye's Wild Ride: Live-Action "Marshals" Season 2 Kicks Off Production

Okay, this one's a curveball. Our usual beat is Crunchyroll deep dives or new manga announcements, but a live-action CBS show has landed on our desk. "Marshals," the "Yellowstone" spinoff, just kicked off production for its second season, slated for a fall premiere. Even if it's not an Isekai, let's see what’s cooking.
Ash Santos, who plays Andrea Cruz, dropped some hints about her character's return. Andrea landed her dream Washington D.C. job, but apparently, getting what you want doesn't always bring satisfaction. Santos teased, "When you finally get what you've been wanting, do you still want it?" It sounds like classic character drama. Andrea’s battling doubts, questioning if she’s ready to leave Montana and the unexpected attachments she’s formed. Expect "cracks" in her Season 1 persona. Santos kept her screen time vague, stating Andrea would be "there in spirit." But she did call Season 2 developments "Holy s**t, that's good," so at least someone's hyped.
Last season’s finale left fans on a brutal cliffhanger. Tom Weaver was unmasked as the real villain, plotting against Broken Rock chairman Rainwater amidst shady land deals. But the real gut punch? Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) and Belle (Arielle Kebbel) were ambushed, taking heavy fire. Both actors confirmed their return for Season 2, but warned that their characters are "alive, but not necessarily unscathed." Kebbel said they literally pick up from that intense finale moment. Marshall-Green’s advice to fans? "You should be worried. They are not going to come out unscathed."
““When you finally get what you’ve been wanting, do you still want it?””
Catzye Take
Okay, this article might seem like a bit of a curveball for Catzye, but even we can appreciate good storytelling no matter the medium. While "Marshals" isn't bringing us new anime, its commitment to high-stakes drama and character depth is definitely something to watch for, perhaps inspiring future animated westerns?
