Boston Blue Season 2 Eyes October Return, Showrunners Tease Major Plot Shifts

The second season of CBS's Boston Blue might be dropping on Friday, October 9th. That's the word from a teaser on the Boston Blue Fans Instagram account, so file it under "highly anticipated rumor" for now. Still, fans are already buzzing for Danny Reagan's (Donnie Wahlberg) next chapter in the Blue Bloods spinoff.
Production has been in full swing, and showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis recently peeled back the curtain on what's ahead. Expect a small time jump right off the bat. This lets Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) recover, getting her and Danny back on the streets of Boston. But don't worry, they're not skipping over the Season 1 finale cliffhanger. Sonnier confirmed the new season will jump straight into uncovering who was driving that mysterious grey truck from Brian's not-an-accident.
Beyond the gritty detective work, Mae Silver's (Gloria Reuben) re-election campaign is set to be a major storyline. Margolis hinted at intense political sparring, with Ward Horton's Thad acting as a formidable foil. Mae will face pressure to "get down in the mud" while still fighting for justice.
